Texas Regents Chairman Asks Hall To Resign

CBS Dallas / Fort Worth

AUSTIN (AP) — The chairman of the University of Texas System Board of Regents has asked for the resignation of board member Wallace Hall, who is facing a criminal investigation and the possibility of impeachment over his efforts to oust the president of the Austin campus.

Chairman Paul Foster said Thursday that resigning would be “most beneficial” to a board that has been embroiled in several controversies surrounding Hall and the investigations into his activities.

Foster, however, stopped short of calling for a board vote of confidence on Hall, which he said would be inappropriate.

Hall, who attended Thursday’s meeting, did not resign and left without comment.

A House panel voted Monday that grounds for impeaching Hall exist, a move that could end in his removal from office.
