In a night of upsets, none was crazier or more thrilling than [autotag]Matt Brown[/autotag]’s over [autotag]Erick Silva[/autotag] in Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 40 headliner.
Brown (19-11 MMA, 12-5 UFC) overcame some early trouble, including crippling body shots and a deep rear-naked choke, to rally and defeat Silva (16-5 MMA, 4-4 UFC) in the welterweight headliner.
The bout, which saw Brown enter as a 2-1 underdog, took place at Cincinnati’s U.S. Bank Arena and aired on FOX Sports 1. Fighting in his home state, Brown posted his seventh straight UFC win (and fifth consecutive knockout) to make a persuasive case for a shot at the division’s elite.
During the action-packed and absolutely bonkers three-round fight, Twitter lit up as fighters, journalists, fight executives and other MMA notables watched the action unfold.
