MERS kills 2 more Saudis, death figure stands at 87


Two more people have died from the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus (MERS-CoV) in Saudi Arabia, bringing the country’s death toll to 87.A total of 299 cases of the SARS-like virus have been detected in the kingdom so far, the Saudi Health Ministry said on Friday.The two deaths were announced a day after Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud tried to reassure the public about the virus in the western city of Jeddah, which has seen a series of cases among health staff in recent weeks.At least four doctors reportedly resigned after refusing to visit MERS patients at Jeddah’s King Fahd Hospital last week.
